Karen's Inspiration

 

'I was fascinated by these two incredibly powerful white rhino on many levels. Primarily their skin texture, patterns and blemishes were very interesting to me. I really worked hard to translate them into a graphite pencil drawing and do them justice.

Their enormous strength was evident as they tussled with one another and I was keen to convey that power. Finally, the interaction between the two was captivating. I watched them play and tussle one another. The bond between them was clearly very strong, as it can only be between family members.' Karen Phillips
