Self taught, her only formal art training was to GCSE level art where she experimented with a variety of different media, before finding her real passion for graphite pencil wildlife art and animal art.

She showed an early talent for capturing the character and emotion of her subjects.

Karen gained her BSc in Applied Biology from Bristol, England and worked as a successfully published research scientist specialising in Genetics.

She then gained her MSc in Human Resource Management from UMIST/Manchester School of Management, UK and qualified as a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development in one year. There followed a highly successful corporate career.

After having her son, Karen decided to take the opportunity to explore and develop her artistic talents further.  Karen works with her family to run their successful, small, family business.

Her stunning work is held in private collections in the UK, Europe, the USA and Australia and is rapidly growing in both popularity and critical acclaim.

Karen works every day from her studio at home in rural Cheshire, UK, often spending weeks capturing the immense detail of a drawing resulting in incredibly realistic pieces of original animal art.

Karen is one of only a limited number of hand-picked Signature Members of the prestigious wildlife Artists For Conservation Foundation (AFC).  The AFC's membership list reads like a who's who of top wildlife artists in the world.

Karen is also an active member of the Marwell International Wildlife Art Society (MIWAS), Europe's largest wildlife art society alongside well-known artists such as Pip McGarry.

She is a member of the Society for All Artists (SAA) and The Wildlife Art Society International (TWASI) alongside well-known artists such as Pollyanna Pickering and David Shepherd.

Charity Work

We actively support the fundraising of many charities through Karen Phillips Art.   Karen believes it is hugely important to do what she can to support all the vital work of her chosen charities.

She selects charities on the basis of an emotional connection with the people or animals they are helping.

The NSPCC

We continue to work closely with the NSPCC to raise funds for their vitally important Full Stop: Stop Cruelty to Children Campaign. The NSPCC  exists to end cruelty to children.

The NSPCC wants to see a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfill their potential.  To do this, the NSPCC has four objectives: To mobilise everyone to take action to end child cruelty. To give children the help, support and environment they need to stay safe from cruelty. To find ways of working with communities to keep children safe from cruelty.  To be, and be seen as, someone to turn to for children and young people.

If you are concerned about a child, please call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000; Childline on 0800 1111; or visit  www.there4me.com .

The Born Free Foundation

We also support the vital work of the Born Free Foundation.
